Brief details reached Blenheim late this afternoon of a sensational affray at No. 8 camp, Kekerangu, as the result of which a man named James Law, a wellknown Blenheim resident, formerly of Swansdown, has been conveyed to Kaikcura hospital suffering from the effects of razor slashes. From what ■ can be ascertained it appears that trouble developed in the camp yesterday afternoon when a Blenheim business man, whose name has not been revealed, attempted to secure payment of £lO from one of the public works employees known as Dick Jones. It is stated that the Blenheim man was reinforced in ,his demand by a gang of men, who attempted to raid Jones’ teiit. Axes and '• • razors were produced, and a regular riot ensued, in the course of which Law was slashed across the face with a razor. The injured’ man was conveyed last evening to Kaikoura hospital, where he is making good progress. A sinister side is lent to the story by the allegation that the dispute arose as tlie result of the introduction of liquor to the camp. ’• r .
