MAKAHU GOLF BALL. FIRST ANNUAL SUCCESS. _ gA ball under the auspices of the Alakahu Golf Club was held in the Alakahu Hall on Wednesday. The hall was decorated with blue and white streamers drooping from the centre in a maypole effect, while here and there a tiny paper umbrella was hanging. Around the walls decorated golf clubs and bamboo were arranged. A “christening” cake made by Mrs. Coyne and iced by Air. Cruthers was placed on the piano, over which streamers in the form' of an alcove were hanging. Late hi the evening the cake was sold to Miss Al. Rodgers, Douglas. Aluch merriment was caused by the novelty dances, novel in reality as well as name. The best was the umbrella dance in which each couple was presented with a paper umbrella to shield the storm of ■confetti, balloons and snowballs showered from the umbrellas above. So enjoyable was the night that the club has decided to hold an annual ball.
