NEW OIL BORE ANNOUNCED
START AT MOTUROA SHORTLY. STEEL DERRICK FROM ENGLAND. Drilling by the New Plymouth (N.Z.i Oil Wells Company Ltd. will be commenced within two months. The company has an area of 30 acres at Moturoa and 445 acres at Omata. Mr. R. H. Launder, drilling supervisor to the company, arrived from Australia last : week and left New Plymouth on Saturday to spend a few days in Gisborne before returning. While in New Plymouth he' consulted with Messrs. J. S. S. Medley and F. Amoore, who have been appointed a local advisory board to the directors.- ■ •' Mr. Launder will supervise the erection of plant-, which has already been secured. - A steel ’derrick purchased in England will come ; to New Zealand by tlm-s.s/ Hertford, - reaching New Plymouth early in September, and it is hoped that ‘drilling operations will be commenced- shortly afterwards. In the meantime the drilling supervisor will be engaged on the preliminary work. It is stated that the money put into the company is to be spent principally in actual drilling operations. This will be the first English derrick to be erected in Taranaki and in the event of success the company hopes it will be only one of many others to make their appearance in the district.
