SUSPENSION OF TRAINING
CANTERBURY TO “CARRY ON.” By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, Aug. 2. A meeting of officers and non-com-missioned officers of the Canterbury Regiment decided to maintain the organisation under the conditions laid down by Cabinet, the idea being a wholehearted .endeavour once again to bring the force, into a state of efficiency. They consider that the suspension of compulsory service with the resulting disintegration of units is a disastrous step, and urge that a commission be set uu to go into defence matters.
