BIG CANTERBURY GATHERING. By Telegraph.—Press Association; Christchurch, Last Night.. At a gathering representative of all shades of political, opinion, attended by about 300 people, the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, wa_ honoured by Canterbury residents on Saturday evening to mark the akainment for the first time, by a man born in this province of the highest office in the Dominion. # The chairman, Sir Heaton Rhodes, and Dr. John Guthrie, who proposed the toast of the guest of honour, both referred to Mr. Forbes’ uprightness of character. !
