RED INTERNATIONAL DAY
EFFECTIVE RAID IN SYDNEY DISTURBANCE AT ADELAIDE FIGHT WITH THE POLICE By Telegraph -Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 8.30 p.m. Sydney, Aug. 1. Communists had planned a demonstration. for tho centre of the city today, commemorating Red International Day. Police and detectives gathered 20 into a patrol van at the precise moment the demonstration was about to commence. It was one of the swiftest and most effective raids on record. An Adelaide message says there was a serious Communist disturbance in front of the Treasury building to-day. The police charged with batons but the Communists fought the police with pieces of wood. A number of Communists were injured and two were arrested.
