OKOKE NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A large pig was captured by Mr. E. Ekdahl on his Hogan Road property last week. The animal was 6ft. 3in. long and 2ft. 9in. high. A euchre party was held last Friday evening in the Okoke Hall, the largest gathering for some time assembling. Mrs. Fraser’ secured the ladies’ first, and Miss P. Whittaker the second, while Mr. E. Whittaker and Mr. Bosun Did were first and second respectively in the mens’ class. With Mr. Alf Smith as pianist and Mr. E. Holly master of ceremonies, the dance held after the tournament was merry for many hours. A few lambs are to be seen in -the Okoke district and with the event of a bobby calf here and there the farmers will shortly be dreading that four o - clock in the morning feeling. Mr. E. J. Ekdahl is an inmate of the New Plymouth hospital suffering from pneumonia. Mrs. T. Wright has returned home after spending a few days at Inglewood. Mrs. R. D. Milne, Stratford, spent the week-end with Mrs. Fraser. Mr. G. Fraser, Waitara, also was the guest of his aunt, Mrs. Fraser. Mrs. J. Hoskin is in the New Plymouth hospital.
