During, an engagement between the American river gunboat Palos and Communists in the vicinity of Changsa five American sailors were wounded. There are no details but it appears that the Communists opened fire on the Palos, which replied, killing 30. The Government of Japan is gravelyconcerned at the Red insurrection and the seizure of Changsha, involving the burning of the, consulate, It fears that the movement is spreading. Japanese warships are hastening to Hankow, where the Nationalist forces are inadequato for defence.
