GRIFFITHS WINS IN THE NINTH. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. New York, July 30. Griffiths won on a technical knockout in a fight to-night with Tom Heeney, New Zealand heavyweight. The referee gave his decision in the ninth round. Heeney absorbed considerable punishment through nine unexciting rounds. The New Zealander woke up in the fourth and staggered Griffiths with two heavy (flows to the chin. Tom was unable to follow up his advantage and after the fifth it was a question whether bo could last the remainder of tho route. The referee helped,him to the corner in the ninth round, in which his eye was severely cut and tho fight was stopped and awarded to Griffiths.
