UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF
SUBSIDIES FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. GRANT FOR EGMONT PARK. Advice that an additional subsidy of £2 for £l, on a labour basis of 14s per day, will bo paid up to £970 for the New Plymouth Borough Council’s unemployment relief work, has been received from the Minister of Labour (Hon. S. G. Smith) by Mr. P. E. Stainton, chairman of the New Plymouth Nnemployment Relief Committee. Word has also been received that the Minister of Public Works has agreed to a o-rant of £5O to the Egmont National Park Board for clearing gorse, fern and other noxious weeds from amongst the trees planted last season on the Kaitake Ranges.
