WHAKAMARA NEWS

There was the usual good attendance at the weekly euchre party and dance at Whakamara on .Friday night. The five-nightly prizes were won by Mr. J. Potter with Messrs. I. Buchanan and A. Davies equal for second place, and Miss A. Skevington, who cut with her sister, Miss T. Skevington, for the ladies’ prize. The nightly prizes were won by Mr. I. Buchanan, and Mrs. A Langley, who played off with Mrs. Buchanan.

Mr. J. Dobson is spending a few days in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Broadbent and family have left the district and taken up their residence at Manutahi.

On Friday the school football team Visited Mokoia to play the Ohangai team for the G. IV, Williams Challenge Cup. .Before a large crowd the Whakamara team lost by 26 to 3. The tries for the .winners were all scored by Jack Frahm, while James Wrigley scored for Whakamara. The game was admirably controlled by Mr. Galbraith, Eraser Road. After the match, the teams and visitors were entertained to afternoon tea in the Mokoia hall.
