ADDINGGTON STOCK MARKET. j I By Telegraph.—Press Association. ! Christchurch, Last Night. There were few changes in the basis of values at the weekly metropolitan market' at Addington to-day as compared with the last market. Again there was a big line of North Island steers, also lines from the West Coast and Southland. The sale was an irregular one and plain beef was easier, but there was a good demand for prime sorts and little alteration in values. The store sheep entered filled only a. few pens and the sale was on the same basis of values as those that ruled last week. The entry of fat lambs was also very small, but those entered sold very well with competition keen. There was an I easier tone in the fat sheep market j but no quotable change in values. I The basis of values of store sheep was on a par with that ruling last week. Medium ewe hoggets sold to 15s 2d, ordinary wether hoggets 7s to 10s 4d, good sound-mouthed crossbred ewes to 19s 6d, ordinary s.m. halfbred ewes to 12s 3d, ordinary four and six-tooth half-bred, ewes to 17s 3d, aged ewes to 4s. > Of fat lambs there was an entry of j -2353 and they sold very firmly with competition keen throughout. | An entry of 5200 bead of fat sheep j contained a bigger proportion of wethers than for some time. There was a small entry of vealers and the sale was a keen one with prices little changed. The top price was £9 I 10s.

Prices for store cattle showed little alteration. The yarding was slightly bigger than last week’s, but apart from a line of 20 young cows of good colours there was nothing outstanding offered. This line made up to £4 16s, Eighteen months to two-year-old steers sold up ro £2 Ils.

Of dairy cattle there was an entry of 61 head, with the quality poor. Values were a little easier than was the case at last week’s market. Values were: Good second and third calvers, £lO to £l2; medium second and third calvers, £8 to £9 10s; others, £2 15s to £7; good heifers, to £9 10s; medium heifers, £7 to £8; others, £5 to- £6.

' There was a small yarding of porkers and the market for them was a little easier. Choppers were in short supply. Baconers sold very firmly. Val--1 nos were: Porkers, £2 10s to £3 Ils Cd (average price per “lb, Od to 10d); choppers, £4 3s fid to £9 18s fid; baconers, £3 15s fid to £5 9s Cd (average price per lb, 7«d to 81d). Of store pigs there was a small yarding which sold at prices fully up to late rates. Values were: Large stores, 32s to 4J.S; medium 25s to 30s; small, 22s to 24s fid; slips, 18s to 20s; best weaners, IGs to ISs fid; others, 8$ to 14s fid. DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES. Newton King, Ltd., have received the following report from, their principals: — The butter market is steady at 134 s up to 130 s. The cheese market is firm. White, 765; coloured, 82s. LIVE STOCK SALES. VALUES AT FRANKTON. Hamilton, July 15. There was a very small yarding of beef at the weekly stock sales at the Frankton yards to-day and prices showed a decided rise. Fat sheep again came forward in large numbers and were far in excess of butchers’ requirements. Prices generally were low. There was a full yarding of stores, but only a small offering of fat pigs. Prime bullocks sold at about 10s per head better and prime cows at 10s to 15s per head higher than late rates. ' SALE OF DAIRY CATTLE. Tatimarimui, July. 15. A dairy cattle sale was held at the Taumarmiui saleyards this morning. Over 200 cows came forward, but only a few outside buyers operated. Oompetition was not keen and a large number of cows was passed in at low prices. The majority of cows wcro, backward and were not suitable for those desiring to start milking early. There was a large attendance of farmers, and the bes« cows made up to £9 IDs. Good heifers realised £lO.

WOOL PRICES MAINTAINED.

SALES MADE FREELY .IN LONDON. Lyndon, .July 15. At the wool- sales 10,968 bales were offered, including 5175 from New Zealand. Approximately 5780 were sold. All classes of Merinos were in limited supply. There was a splendid ofiering of slipes and a good, supply of greasy crossbreds. All sorts sold freely and prices were maintained. Quotations: New Zealand crossbreds, Annandale, top lid, average 9%d; half bred, Lukiwai, I3d and 12d; Levels, 13 l / 2 d and lid.
