JUSTIFICATION BY INQUIRY FORBEARANCE BY MILITARY PICKETING AT UNIVERSITY By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7.30 p.m. Delhi, July 7. The civil and military action in firing to suppress riots at Peshawar on April 23 is entirely upheld by the inquiry committee, which pays a tribute to the courage, resource and forbearance of the men under great provocation. The committee is of opinion that armoured cars are unsuitable for the conditions prevailing in Peshawar, and suggests thorough consideration of the question of employing ears in quelling 'civil disorders. The Government of India endorses the report and promises to consider the recommendations. Students to the number of 1000 were, unable to sit for a hiav examination at Calcutta University yesterday ow-ng to picketing by congress volunteers, who included 50 women of high-cast? Indian families. Every entrance to the hall was blocked and candidates who refused to leave were bodily removed.
