WAITARA NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At St. John’s Hall on Sunday evening a programme of music was rendered by the Waitara Municipal Band, interspersed with vocal items by Miss R. Rowe, the Newton family, the Rev. K. Hadfield, Mr. W. J. Smith (Inglewood), and Miss Newton. Miss Brough played the accompaniments. The attendance of the public was disappointing in view of the quality of the programme. At the monthly meeting of the Waitara branch of the Plunket Society the nurse’s report was received. It was decided to make a special effort- during August with an appeal for funds. A meeting of the Waitara branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held on Friday afternoon. Miss Violet Taylor, the newly-appointed organising secretary for Taranaki, was present 0 and gave an address full of in-: terest and telling of personal experiences. Waitara gave the society £29 during the last financial year. Archdeacon Gavin and Miss Muir were reelected president and secretary respectively.
