UNIVERSITY COLLEGES
•SOME COMPARISONS MADE. . PROSPECTS IN TARANAKI. That New Zealand university colleges did not compare in some respects with those of other countries was a statement made by Mr. W. H. Moyes, principal of the New Plymouth Boys’, High School, at a meeting of Taranaki education authorities at Hawera last night. The question was raised by a query whether there was a possibility of a university college in Taranaki. Mr. Moyes considered that it would be better to- reorganise the existing system. The colleges should’ specialise more. At the present time a New Zealand student wishing to do research work in certain subjects had not the proper facilities. He doubted if the time would ever come for -a Taranaki .University. Suppose there was one at Stratford,- for example, students would have to live in that town as they could not travel daily from Hawera and New Plymouth to lectures.
