WEST END SCHOOL
. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The West End school committee met in the school on Wednesday evening. Reports were received on the work of the Scouts. The Cub visiting committee reported that the attendances were excellent, but for weeks there had been no cubmaster. One of the cubs had taken charge, but the responsibility was too great. There was certainly no lack of interest in the boys; all they required was a good leader. The committee decided to write to the Commissioner, asking for his assistance. The headmaster reported: “The number on the roll is 462, the average 428, and the percentage 92. Miss Cumming has been relieving on the staff for two weeks. The school was visited by the Minister of Labour on June 12. The building of a room, for the special class has been commenced. Representation should be made to the department that where a child passes its own school to . attend such a class at West End special tram fares should be paid. ; “The medical supply cupboard is depleted and should be restocked at once. Some form of duplicator is urgently. needed for the school.” It was left to Mr. McLeod to report at next meeting on a duplicator. Mr, Parker was empowered to purchase shrubs for the front garden.
