REUNION OF EX-SOLDIERS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) With the hope of arranging a reunion of coastal ex-soldiers over 30. mbn attended a meeting held in Hempton Hall on Saturday night. Mr. C. C, . Eustace, was appointed chairman, Mr. H. D. Shaw (Parih'aka) secretary, and Messrs Tisdall, Carey and Faulkner (Okato),-Erhorn and Goodin (Pungarehu), Revell (Warea) and Woodward (Puniho) form the committee. The Okato and. Warea school football teams tried conclusions at the Okato Domain on Thursday, and after an interesting game Warea was victorious by nine points to six. At the school concert to-day the Egmont troop of the Legion of Frontiersmen will present the Union Jack and flagstaff to the Okato school. There was not a large audience at the concert in aid of the Methodist Church on Tuesday. The general excellence of the artists warranted better attendance. The items, both instrumental and vocal, were thoroughly appreciated by those present. One of the most serious troubles of the dairy farmer, disease in dairy stock, is doubtless responsible for the weekly appearance of the bobby calf collector. The winter calving cow was practically unknown a few years ago, while now cows are coming to profit right through the year. The loss in yield, and inconvenience generally, constitute a very serious problem. Mr. and Mrs. W_. E. Haylock, Oxford Road, have left on a holiday tour. Mr. W. Corbett has returned from a trip to the Waikato. Owing to the death of Mrs. Nichol, Miss Walton’s sister, the Rev. J. Adams motored to Palmerston oh Sunday to catch the limited for Wellington. RAHOTU NEWS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Messrs Gibson and Son. are on business in the Manawatu district. Mrs. T. Wilcox is a lengthy visitor to Australia. Through the Domain Board having re-let its property on the Main Road to Mr. David Paton, four families have moved into different homes in the township of Rahotu. The annual meeting of the Domain Board was held last week, when Mr. 0. 'Penwarden’s resignation was received with regret and Mr. G. Gibson was appointed to fill the vacancy., Constable S. Small is in New Plymouth under medical treatment. Constable J. Mitchell is relieving. Mr. and Mrs. A. Wadsworth are attending .the wedding of Mrs. Wadsworth’s sister at Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. W. Goodin are spending a holiday in Auckland.
