NEW RULER OF ROUMANIA
ROYAL COUPLE NOT RECONCILED. MADAME LUPESCU MAY RETURN. By Telegraph—Prest Assn.—Copyright. Bucharest, June 10. There is no prospect at present of a reconciliation between Princess Helene and King Carol, though a re-union might be effected before Carol’s coronation, which is provisionally fixed for October. Zizi Lambrino, Carol’s first wife, is enthusiastic' about . his return and hopes he will now do something for her ten-year-old son Mircia. Carol’s supporters are suppressing their political opponents. Legal proceedings have been commenced against a Liberal paper because of an editorial entitled “Usurpation of the Throne.” For six hours Roumania was without laws, because Carol annulled the laws bearing the Regency Council’s signature. Special detectives are watching Madame Lupescu’s movements, says a Paris message. She informed the French Government that she is going to Vienna, whence she would quietly return to Bucharest.
A later message says: 'Apparently Princess Helene has asked for time to consider her decision regarding her relations with Carol. Meanwhile members of the Royal Family and political leaders are endeavouring to secure a reconciliation.
