CROWN STUDIOS DISPLAY. The Crown Studios, Devon Street, have made arrangements to display specimens of their art at the show from to-day. The studios have expert staff, both at Auckland and New Plymouth, and though the printing, mounting and some of the colouring is done at Auckland most of tly» work is finished by the New Plymouth artists. ■ This display will no doubt prove . very interesting. JAMES LOBB & CO. FURNITURE DISPLAY. Once again this progressive firm has an attractive display of home furnishings which have been so arranged that . the cosy drawing room appearance is most in* iting. The super Axminster carpet in modern design and colouring will give long service, while the figured velvet three-piece suite is a typical example of the excellent work for which this firm is so widely known. The upholstery and finish both contribute to Lobb’s reputation, which has stood the test of 18 years trading. The grandfather clock which was designed and manufactured in their own factory also creates much interest. The oak case, finished in brown tones, would adorn any hall, while the china cabinet, also in oak and of modern design, is aother fine example of Lobb's standard of .construction. The standard lamp and shade add attractiveness to the display and should appeal to home lovers. Several pieces of silk tapestry specially made for window decoration and popular side curtains, valances, cushions, etc., are also included in the exhibit. These with a dainty tile mantle surround an electric fire and . add the effect required to make a completely furnished room. Those contemplating home furnishing would be well advised to inspect this selection. EMU, LTD. FIRST. EXHIBIT IN DOMINION. . Situated at the. end of the agricultural hall is a very artistically decorated wine stall on behalf of Emu, Ltd., who are exhibiting for the first time in New Zealand. These wines, which are being sampled- to. the public, possess valuable medicinal qualities destined to coax back the fastidious appetite of an invalid, one of the chief factora to be considered when purchasing wines. In Great Britain, t where good wino has been drunk for centuries, Emu enjoys by virtue of its maturity, full strength and richness, a dominating popularity over all other Australian wines and ,is supplied by appointment to His Majesty the King. Since the recent introduction of these vintages to New Zealand, Emu wines have r jumped into public favour.' > Perfectly matured and. delightfully rich they are the finest ports you can buy, yet they cost no more. There are three varieties —333 a full-bodied port, 999 a rich tawny port, and 444 a rich white port. Although strictly wholesale, Emu, Ltd., are offering special facilities for the public to test these wines at their expense. Each number ia now obtainable in original cases, from the bottle departments of the leading hotels and all wine and spirit merchants through* out Taranaki. One exhibit which is certainly attracting great attention is the display of high’ class photography exhibited by Tornquist Studio. Although the stall, which, is situated in the school section opposite Mr. Blennerhassett’s display, is pot as large as the firm would like, a great variety of ar- • tistic photography is on view. . As well as many life-like studies of prominent New Plymouth residents, such celebrities M Michel Cherniavsky, Backhaus, Sir Walter Stringer, Rt, Hon. S. M. Bruce, Josephine Head and Romana, world-famous dancers, pay tribute to the high standard of work attained by: this progressive firm. DUNCAN & DAVIES, LTD. A BRIGHT DISPLAY. This welkknown firm have this year oq their stand at the. Winter Show made the display of shrubs and plants bearing brilliant leaves and berries the predominant feature. The first thing to catch the eye is the firm's, monogram “D. and D.. skiL fully executed-in colourful foliage,of thus and maple, whilst hanging baskets of the same varieties lend a bright patch of colour. Numerous varieties of shrubs ana plants bearing autumn flowers, leaves and berries which are so useful at this time Ot the year, both in the garden and for. cutting, make a gay show Prominent amongst the many varieties shown are Proteas (six varieties), Banksias, Lucuh Gratfesima, Crataegus, Contoneaster, and some wonderful new barberries from Thibet bearing flame-coloured leaves and. berries. A new and striking plant bearing large panicles of brilliant, yellow and crimson flowers is a climbing Alstromerea (Bowmaria),whilst a large bunch of the rare yelloiy rata is also shown. Messrs. Duncan and Davies, Ltd., make a specialty of. hedge, shelter, forest and fruit trees, which are displayed in variety, and planters should make a point of obtaining a copy of the firm’s new 200-page nursery catalogue which is available at the show, or will be posted on .application.
