ATTITUDE TO UNITED PARTY

MR. G. A. WILKINSON AT KAPONG A SUPPORT FOR GOOD MEASURES. His attitude towards the United Partv, and particularly the Hon. G. W. Forbes’ Ministry, was mentioned by Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., during his address at Kaponga last night, Mr. Forbes, he said, was an excellent and popular man, and a “straight goer” for whom he had a great personal friendship. However, the new Prime Minister had a very heavy task, especially in selecting hte Ministry. Mr. Wilkinson considered some of the changes made recently in the Cabinet could have been improved upon. He said he would give general support to all good policy measures in the House, but he could not support the United Party on every motion without taking into consideration the merits of each case. On a no-confidence motion he would not vote against the United Party merely for the flake of voting the party out. Principles would need to be at stake before he would support such a motion.
