ENDEAVOUR TO AVOID CRISIS.

Cabinet sat all night to devise measures to avert a financial crisis. It decided to expedite public works construction programmes, increase by one-half per cent, workers’ contributions to unemployment insurance, this then totalling 4% per cent., also to tax salaries secured by contract up to 10 per cent, and impose a special bachelors’ tax.
