WORK FOUND FOR 900 THIS WEEK.

There were 5259 unemployed in New Zealand for the week ended June 2, according to a statement issued to-day by the Minister of Labour, (the Hon. S. G. Smith). Of this number 2703 were registered at labour bureaux and post offices as being with dependents, and 2556 as being without dependents. A total of 880 men WUs placed in work- during'the week. Details of registration are: — With ~ Without depdts. depdts. Auckland City .... 726 654 Wellington City .... 315 335 Christchurch City .. 476 435 Dunedin City ...... 197 139 The totals for the four cities compared with the figures for the previous week, which are showp in parentheses, are:— Auckland 1380 (1494), Wellington 650 (650), Christchurch 911 (858), Dunedin 336 (367). . ‘
