INGLESIDE AT TIKORANGI
LARGE ATTENDANCE AT HALL. Ideal conditions prevailed last night for the Ingleside conducted by the Tikorangi Anglicans and the New Plymouth Caledonian Society in the Tikorangi hall. The-clear, eecfl evening air had a tang; which made dancing a -pleasure and the large gathering froinTikorangr, the surrounding district, Waitara and New Plymouth joined merrily in the old-time, modern- and Scottish dances. The hall had been decorated in greenery relieved by bouquets of hydrangeas and brighter flowers and was a credit to tire ladies who made the arrangements. The crowded hall presented a gay appearance. The Scottish numbers were especially interesting and the accompaniment- of cries- from the dancers and the skirl 1 of the pipes gave a true Scottish tone. The function was opened by Chief A. Rankin, and: then the dancers set to with Hie grand march, piped hy. Pipers F.. Doble and- JI Henry. -During the evening, Misses Beryl King and Myra Abraham gave a- double sword- dance and a reel. Music for the modern dancing was provided by Martin’s dance band. Prior to supper the haggis was played in by Pipers Doble and Henry,and laid before Piper R. Reid, who delivered the time-honoured ode. \ The masters of * ceremonies were Messrs. J. L Corkill a,nd W. Jones. The ladies’ committee consisted of Mesdamea H. Foreman, H. A. Paulger, H. Hills, W. Bowman, Faull, Misses Paulger (2), Foreman, Hills and Faull. The mens committee was Messrs. J. H. Paulger (chairman), R. Rolfe, H. Hills, H. Foreman, C. Foreman, T. Hine. Archdeacon Gavin, ami Mrs. Gavin were among those present.
