When a quarter of a mile from home, however, they put forth a heroic effort and quickened the pace, but Victoria, lasting better, forged along and won in a great finish by threequarters of a length. Queensland, 15 lengths away, was third, with Tasmania fourth and South Australia far back. Time, IGmin 47sec. Women’s inter-Stato fours.—New South Wales 1, Victoria 2, South Australia 3.
