MAKING A PRETTY HOUSE COATEE Who would like a pretty little coatee to wear in the house? One Wendy Lady wants one, so I thought perhaps All of you would like to know how to inake it. You'll need about two yards of ijiaterial in some pretty colour, several yards of contrasting blazer braid,, and Some gay wools for the embroidery. . Measure across yourself, and from your shoulder to just below your waist; sut a piece of material twice this length and about six inches wider than the measurement across. Fold widthtvays and lengthways, and cut as shown in the diagram. The sleeves are straight pieces of stuff to he joined on at. the arm-holes—make them about eleven inches wide. The slanted shoulder seams will make the little coat set welt on the shoulders, and you must cut down the front fold, sloping a little away each side, as shown by Hm marks XX ou the diagram. •Sew on. the sleeves, stitch up the side seams, and stitch big - square pocket tops with the coloured braid;
[then bind the dill's and all round the eontee with the same braid,, using matching cotton, or else eewing it down .with coloured wool in quarter-inch running stitches. Draw a little design, like the one sketched, on the left' front of the goatee, with light chalk, and work the flowers with bright wools in buttonhole &nd lazy-duisy stitches. Embroider similar posies on A tho cufi's and pockets, press the whole garment on the wrong y.de under a damp cloth —and it' io tfeady to wear. Weudv's Dressmaker.
