11 TINKER BELL TALKS. (ABOUT A NEW COMPETITION. ‘’Morning, any dears!” Wendy bustled into the Big Room, full of energy and high spirits. “’Morning, Wendy!” Billikins and 1 chirped back. “Any I news to-day?” ■ “Yes! I’ve received letters from dozens of Tinkiies, all ask- | ing about a new competition. ‘Something different,’ they say. | What about.it? Any ideas?” I “Painting!” suggested the Billikins helpfully. j ■ “We’ve had that twice running, and it isn’t u bit ‘different.’ j ' Think again!” .- x . j i ■ “Poetry!” bubbled the Billikins. j “Only about half the Tiukites enter Poetry Competitions; ' 'l the others seem to think them too hard. Try again!” j • , “Story-writing, sketching, word-building?” I aSfed. j I “My jdear, they want something NEW!” sighed Wendy, lean- s ■ ing her head on her hand as she tried to think of the specially I good idea the Wendy Ladies and Billy Boys had demanded- I Billikins tip-toed out of the-, room. Presently he came back 1 ' with a wet towel, which he held -out to Wendy with a grin. I “Whatever’s that for?” gasped the mistress of . the hut. j I “For your poor head, darling!” explained the Billikins. “When | people think hard they always want wet towels round their j I heads!” $ | “Look here, my boy!” laughed Wendy. “If you haven’t. | anything really brainy to suggest in the way of a Competition for 1 0 the Corner, you fade away! You're only hindering us—you and . I I . your wet towels ” I | “Well! Of’all the ungrateful ...” Billikins began. I 2 But Wendy was after him. “Out you go!” she ordered. j s “A holiday, Wendy? D’you mean I may have a holiday > | to-day?” Billikins was already at the door. ‘Thank you very ; I* ' much.” • ■ „ | ,| Off he scampered and we saw him no more until tea-time. t< i In the meantime Wendy and I thought out an extra special- I | ly nice subject for this month’s contest .... something you’il A enjoy!
