INFECTIOUS DISEASES
STATISTICS FOR TARANAKI, The following return of infectious diseases notified in the Taranaki district during . April has been supplied by Dr. R. J: R. Mecredy, medical officer of health. Figures for April of last year are given for comparison:' Scarlet fever 10 (compared with 44 for April, 1929), total number for year 48 (total number for corresponding period of 1929) 114. The corresponding figures for other diseases are: Diphtheria, 2 (2), 13 (18); enteric fever, Q (0), 5 (3); tubersulosis, 3 (1), 10 (13); influenza, 1 (I), 2 (4); pneumonia, 12 (16), 23 (44); erysipelas, 1 (0), 3 ,j) ; eclampsia, 1 (0), 2 (0). The <ures do not reveal any noticeable outbreaks or abnormal increases in any disease.
