As a sequel to a stand-up at a recent rally of unemployed, John William Hughes and George Lewis were charged with fighting. The charge against Hughes was dismissed and Lewis was fined £l.
A defective said Hughes announced that he wanted to get the meeting away from the Communist element, and he stood for King and country. That seemed to start the trouble. Hughes later offered Jo take on all the Communists in the hall,' one after the other. Lewis’ explanation was that Hughes called him a Bolshevist and a Communist; and struck hlm.'brtaking hie glasses and he' hit out ih self-defence. ~• ~
