SALARY CUT EXTENSIONS
NEW SOUTH WALES ECONOMY By Telegra-ph—Pres* Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, May 7. The Treasurer, Mr. Stevens, stated that the Government had definitely decided to repeal the 44-hour week legislation. He also foreshadowed sweeping legislation to restore industrial and financial stability. The public service salary cut would be extended to include officers and other employees of public authorities and corporate bodies. Thus reduction will apply almost certainly to the police force and definitely to employees of the Harbour Trust, the Government Savings Bank, Main Roads Board and Water and Sewerage Board. Judges are exempted. Many other sub-Governmental bodies are likely ix bo affected.
