DAIRY BOARD
PRODUCER REPRESENTATIVES. THREE VACANCIES TO FILL. In accordance with the provisions of the Dairy Produce Export Control Act, 1923, two producers’ representatives from the North Island and one from the South Island will retire from the Dairy Board on June 30, and an election will take place next month for the purpose of filling the vacancies. The members due to retire are Mr. S. Ferguson, Mr. J. Hine and Mr. H. T. Chapman, representatives of wards Nos. 3. 4 and 7 respectively. The wards embrace the following districts:
Ward No. 3: The outer boundaries of the counties of Waikato, Hauraki Plains, Coromandel, Thames, Ohinemuri, Piako, Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki, including all boroughs and town districts situated within the counties, and so much of the borough of Hamilton as lies between the Waikato River and the boundary of the Waikato county. . Ward No. 4: Clifton, Inglewood, Taranaki, Stratford, Eginont, Eltham, Whangamomona. Ward No. 7: Westland, Grey, Inangahua, Murchison, Buller, Collingwood, Takaka, Waimea Sounds, Marlborough, Awatere, Kaikoura, Amuri, Cheviot, Waipara, Tawera, Oxford, Ashley, Kowai, Rangiora, Eyre, Malvern, Paparua, Waimiri, Heathcote, Mount Herbert, Akaroa, Wairewa, Halswell, Springs, Ellesmere, Selwyn, Chatham Islands. The regulations governing the election of producers’ representatives provide that the owner of every dairy produce export factory within any ward concerned shall, within 10 days after May 1, deliver to the returning officer a
list of the names of all producers carrying on business as suppliers of milk or eream to the factory. These lists form the basis of the rolls for the election, and the votes are calculated on a tonnage basis. . Nominations of candidates for the. vacant seats will close with the returning officer, Mr. P. .Granger, of the Department of Agriculture, on May 20, and the election will take place at noon on June 15.
