A Wedding Gift.
A sum of £3, accompanied by a letter in childish handwriting, was among the numerous gifts received by the Prince of Piedmont. The letter, which was full of errors in spelling, was as follows: —“Bear Prince, Mother tells me that you are very good and very fond of children, and that all are making presents to yon because you arc marrying a beautiful, good princess. 1. wished to send you the toys mother gave me because I took my medicine, but mother says that you prefer money to help poor ill children. 1 therefore send you my savings box, and those of my. brother and my cousin, who do not write because they are smaller than I am. We all love you so much and send you and your beautiful princess many kisses.” The writer of the letter is aged six. He received from the prince in return three’ boxes of chocolates, and a letter of thanks. The money was given to a children’s hospital.
