PREPARATION FOR TALKIES. The interior of the Palea Town Hall presents a scene of chaos and confusion due to the activities of-a crew of carpenters and electricians. The selections were appreciated by the patients and a large number of visitors, and at the conclusion afternoon tea was served by the nurses. ..The annual church parades of the Hawera Municipal Band and the Hawera Pipe Band were held on Sunday, the Municipal Band, under Drum-Major Johns, tg-oether with the Hawera Fire Brigade under Superintendent Morrison, attending the Baptist C’hureh, and the Pipe Band the Presbyterian Church. Invitation holders are reminded that the Hawera Amateur Swimming dub’s annual dance and presentation of prizes takes place at St. Joseph’s Hall, Hawera, to-morrow evening. Arrangements are well in hand for the function and patrons are promised an enjoyable evening’s entertainment.. Wills’ Melodymakers’ Orchestra will provide the music. The Hawera City Football Club will hold its annual ball in St. Joseph’s Hall, Hawera, on Wednesday, May 28.
