Beesley; bandmaster, Mr. S. Murray; band sergeant, Mr. H. Andrews; band corporal, Mr. H. Taylor; lance corporal, Mr. R. Bourke; secretary, Mr. H. Taylor; treasurer, Mr. H. Vincent.

The 26th annual report stated that the band had the honour of winning the quickstep and selection at the contest held in Eltham. Taking into, consideration the number of new players in the ranks, it was a splendid achievement. It was very gratifying to all concerned, and especially to Mr. A. Beesley, the conductor. It was to be hoped that the townspeople would continue to support the band liberally as in the past. The band had given a number of concerts and played a number of engagements. The attendance at practice had been excellent. Sixty-four practices had been held, and some members had’ attended nearly all practices. The general average had been 75 per cent. Eulogistic references to the band’s performances were made by the Mayor (Mr. I. J. Bridger) and Mr. J. D. McKay. In replying, the conductor (Mr. Beesley) thanked the speakers for their very kind remarks concerning his own and* the band’s service. The advice they had given was in the right direction. Naturally, he felt strongly on the matter of maintaining constant practice, without which the band could not expect to succeed. There was always room at the top for the young players, and he intended to start, a learners’ class, which would give them their opportunity.

Mr. H. Andrews said that as Mr. Nuttall had resigned the secretaryship after 25 years’ service, they thought it fitting that his work should be recognised in some way, and he had pleasure in proposing that he be elected a life member of the band.

The motion was seconded by Mr. H. Taylor and earned with ' acclamation. Mr. Nuttall said it was very gratifying to know that the band were pleased with his services. Altogether he had been a bandsman for 27 years, of which 18 had been spent .as secretary. He had not been a playing member for the past few years, but had taken a great interest in the band, and it had been a pleasure to him' to do whatever he could.

Air. Andrews also, proposed Air. S. Alurray as a life member in consideration of his faithful service for a quarter of a century as a member of the band. Air. Taylor seconded the motion, which was also carried with acclamation. GENERAL ITEMS.
