SUCCESS OF TARANAKI COW
CHAMPION AT SYDNEY SHOW.
Not only Taranaki Jersey breeders but breeders throughout New Zealand will be pleased to bear of the success at. the Sydney Royal Show of a Jersey cow bred by Mr. G. 11. Bell, Oakura. At this year’s show there were 241 Jerseys on exhibition and in this large field Pinewood’s Golden Beauty, bred by Mr. Bell and purchased from him by Dr. J. B. Meredith, of Sydney, was adjudged the champion cow. This eow’will be remembered by Jersey breeders in Taranaki as she was undefeated at all Die Taranaki shows, from a yearling up to three years of age, when she was shipped to Dr. Meredith, her present owner.' As a two-yehr-old heifer in milk she defeated at the Stratford show in 1925, Mr. R. L. Horn’s first and second ■. prize New Zealand Royal Show winners and was made junior champion. As a three-year-old she won first .prize at Hawera, Stratford and New Plymouth shows and was also reserve champion at Hawera and New Plymouth. She was shipped after the latter, show to Sydney where she competed at the Royal Show a few days after landing and was placed second in the three-year-old class. Last year Pinewood’s Golden Beauty was a member of Dr. Meredith’s winning team for best three females.
