TOTALISATOR TAXATION
NO CHARGE ON THE CLUBS,

Mr. W. J. Polson, - president of the Farmers’ Union, plied last night to the criticism by the Sports Protection League of his suggested totalisator tax increase. He states that the racing industry would n t have to pay a penny more under his scheme. The increased, rate would be passe ' on ..to the public. The racing industry would collect its share just as at present, and the public would p y its share. The man who could afford to gamble could afford to pay the increase. Mr. Polson said he favoured the use of the telegraph system for the- making of totalisator investments in opposition to the bookmakers.
