SWING BY ROPE IN MID-AIR

COULD NOT CLIMB TO PLANE

FATALLY HURT IN LANDING

By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Berlin, April 28.

The German aerobatic airman Hundertmark was killed before thousands at Dusseldorf when attempting to climb a rope ladder from one flying pJa«e to another. Ilundertmark caught the end of the ladder attached to the machine above but was unable -to raise hie feet to the rung. A second pilot fruitlessly tried to pull him up. A landing meant death, and thus for three-quarters of an hour the horrified spectators watched Ilundertmark dangling in mid-air. Firemen held a sheet and the machine circled frequently, but the acrobat had either become entangled or had lost his nerve and was unable to drop. Finally the pilot steeled his heart and landed. Ilundertmark was dragged along the. ground, and when picked up he was terribly injured and died shortly afterwards. . .
