WAR MEMORIAL DISFIGURED
CALLOUS ACT OF VANDALISM.
By Telegraph.—Presa Association.
Christchurch, April 26.
A callous act of vandalism is reported from Kaiapoi this morning. It was found that the bayonet fixed to the marble rifle on the war memorial statue had been torn away and disposed of.
The act was the work of an irresponsible hooligan, as parts of the marble were found on the lawn surrounding the statue.
