BASIC WAGE REDUCED
COST OF LIVING SHOWS DROP.

Following the quarterly adjustment of the cost of living figures the basic wage level has fallen by from 3s a week for clothing trade employees and clerks to 5s 6d for wharf labourers. The saving to the employers of New South Wales is estimated at about half a million sterling per annum, that of the railways alone amountgin to £320,000.
