GIFTS TO GÒD CAUSES
AUCKLAND BANK’S DONATIONS.

Donations totalling £0250 in aid of institutions which are giving valuable service to the community were announced at the annual meeting of the trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank. The gifts are subject to the approval of the Governor-General-in-Council. The New Zealand Obstetrical Endowment appeal is to be assisted to the extent of £2OOO. A similar sum is to be donated to the Auckland branch of the Plunket Society, for the purpose of paying off a mortgage on its headquarters building. A gift of £lOOO is to be made to the Auckland branch of the St. John Ambulance Association. The Auckland Hospital Board is to receive £750 for the creation of an endowment fund towards the purchase of radium for use in Auckland. The Sailors’ Home Endowment Fund is to receive £5OO. Donations made by the bank since the inauguration of the practice in 1906 amount to the magnificent total of £llB,lOO, and many deserving institutions and causes . have benefited, particularly since 1914, when donations, with one or two exceptions, have been made annually.
