By some irony of fate all the prisoners awaiting execution in “death row” escaped the Columbus fire. Twentythree murderers, serving sentences varying from ten years to life, were killej. The only prisoner to escape from the prison yard during the excitement was Michael, who had been a burglar, lie has not yet been recaptured.
