A growing agitation has been apppient for some action against Gialdini, Hatry’s associate. A message from Romo states tne British Embassy is taking legal advice in view of a prosecution at the leanest of the British authorities. This is Bcmi-officially confirmed by the Home Office. It was disclosed at the trial that, at a meeting held at Ilatry s house Gialdini threatened that if a decision were not taken to transfer the" shares, lie would blow his brains out on the spot, rather than face disaster. Mr. Birkett, lx/' 1 * suggested that this threat, at a time when Hatry was overstrained, might well have been the turning point. Hatry accepted the whole responsibility for all the offences, for which he, rather than his associates, was responsible. Gialdini escaped arrest by fleeing to Italy.' Had Gialdini been in Britain he certainly would have been accused. The extraction treaty with Italy did not provide for the production of an Italian subject in Britain or vice versa.
