WEDDING.

MITCHELL—SLINGER. ■ A very pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, New Plymouth, bn Wednesday, December 18, when Margaret Edna, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Slinger, of “Elsinore,” Mangorei Road, was married to Alfred James Desmond, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, of Russell, Bay of Islands. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Canon Strong, and the bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very pretty dress of white crepe de chine, with a veil of white embroidered tulle caught at both sides with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white Christmas lilies, carnations and roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Doris Slinger, sister of the bride, and Miss Isobel Mclnder, who looked very nice in pale green and pale pink silk dresses respectively, and carried bouquets of pink roses and carnations. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. V. J. Upshall and Mr. Johnson was groomsman. In the absence of the bridegroom’s parents, Mrs. Davies acted as matron of honour. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the Hygienic tea rooms and afterwards at the residence of the bride’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell left by train next day for Wellington, where they spent a short honeymoon.
