Glenny, of Taradalc, Hawke’s Bay, is visiting her sister, Mrs. F. AlcPhillips, Sutherland Road, Alanaia. Air. and Airs. Jack Wyborn, of Te Aroha, and Air. and Airs. John Wyborn and their small daughter, also of Te Arolia, are spending some time at Hawera. They are on a camping tour of the North Island. * o # « Dr. Doris Gordon, secretary to the New Zealand Obstetrical Society, was a visitor to Hawera during the week in connection with the movement, regarding maternal welfare and maternal mortality, which is creating so much interest at present, and in which movement, Dr. Doris states, she is being met’ everywhere with most gratifying earnestness and enthusiasm. * * * # Aliss Betty Evans and Aliss -Jill Shand, of Christchurch, were recently the guests of Air. and Airs. C'orfe. Airs. Al. Dowling leaves Hawera for Hamilton on Wednesday, later going on to Auckland, where she will join the Niagara for Sydney on Tuesday, January 23, for an extended holiday in Australia. * =>»=» -•» The Tait Stars, which have been held by Stratford, and which were played for on the Stratford croquet lawns this week, were won by Kaponga. *.* * # Airs. Guy and family have returnedhome from Kawhia. mi >» 3 « At the Kia Ora croquet lawns this week Aliss Hay-Alackenzie and Airs. D. Ftrangcwere successful in winning the Dowling buttons, while the Kia Ora ferns match played, on Thursday was won by Airs. Alilroy and Mrs. Leslie Bull. The Dingle buttons are at present held by Mrs. Cropton and Mrs. Strange.
