COMING DOMINION VISIT.

FINAL 'SE-EE'GTIUX SR'OiITLV.

Tire chairman of tlie 'New .Zealand Rugby Union, Mr; S; S.' Dean-,-- stated at Wellington on Wednesday) that all -arrangements had been completed for the visit of the British Rugby 'football team to New. Zealand this year, and as far as was known the team would be chosen this week.

In discussing the big Rugby football engagement;for-this year; Mr. Dean .said the international match Wales v. England was to- be played- on Saturday. It is. expected that -the - selectors -of the ■team for New Zealand -will' be there to • make a final study -of form before making their final selection. Trial matches have been played, as also have tlie matches England v. The-Rest and Scotland v. France.

It is not'anticipated that the selectors, will wait until next month before finally choosing the team,’as the players willrequire good notice, since they arc to leave for New Zealand in- April. Advice has been received by Mr. S. G. Bonsor, the New Zealand representative of Messrs. T. 11,. Hamer and Company, that the New Zealand Association is to entertain, the British Rugby team at the Savoy Hotel on April 10, the eve of its departure for New Zealand. The Duke of York has consented to be present. Invitations will be issued at the end of January to prominent British sportsmen and to -representatives of different branches of sport. As has'been previously indicated, the team for the tour is likely to differ, from that which was selected provisionally last•"-year.' It is known that a number of the players in the original selection are unable to make the tour. Reports from England • show that many new players are in the running for- international honours, and quite a number of them have received consideration for places in the team for New Zealand. The team is due at Wellington about the middle of May. The manager of the team will be Mr. James Baxter, who was president of the Rugby Football Union of England in 1920-27.
