ROUND OF CEREMONIES
FAREWELL TO THE GOVERNOR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Their Excellencies Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson paid their farewell visit to Christchurch to-day,, and were favoured with beautiful weather for the various ceremonies. His Excellency placed in position the foundation stones of a new boarding house at Christ’s College and a new Baptist Church in Colombo Street, of which the Mayor, the Rev. J. K. Archer, is the pastor.
A civic farewell was largely attended. His Excellency received an album containing an address and photographs of local scenes, and Her Excellency a cabinet made of New Zealand woods. Subsequently they were the guests of the Chamber of Commerce, of which Lady Alice is patroness, at luncheon. Her Excellency was also entertained by the Women’s Club and Mothers’ Union, being the recipient of a water colour from the council of the latter.
Their Excellencies loft for Wellington to-night.
