The monetary loss is estimated at equivalent to £lyS 000,000. . 1 1 These figures represent the directlj ascertainable losses. It is believed losses in Manchuria are many larger indirectly. All foreigners residing in at present enjoying privileges will be subject after 1 to the laws promulgated by the ese Government, according to an nouncement issued by the Foreign ister, Mr. Wang. The decision, which was long antici-' pated, was reached at an emergency; which decided to issue an official mandate abolishing extra-territoriality though it was. previously acknowledged by Mr. Wang that it would be impossible to enforce until the powers agreed on principle.
