OUR POETRY
WHEN ALL OUR CIIICKIES LAY.
(Sent by Maisie Vickers.) We have a lot of little chicks,
Some speckled and some white; And Mother puts them all to bed. In a big box every night. She feeds them lots of times each day, And we always laugh to see, Some perched upon her shoulder, And some more upon her knee. They eat the wheat out of her baud, And then away they run, Hunting for worms and chasing flies, They have such lots '.of fun. But though they’re only tiny now, They’ll get big some day, And when they grow to great big hens A lot. of eggs they’ll lay. If you are really fond of eggs. And will just write to us and say. Well send you a great big basketful!, When all our chickies lay.
