Auckland, Last Nigl)|» 'John Alassey Gardiner, aged. .50,; , married man with a family of fiye' young children residing at Te Papapa, was drowned in the upper reaches ’Of • the Alanukau’Harbour on Saturday afx .ternoon. Gardiner was fishing from a' dinghy with a net. He appeared to over-balance and became entangled in the net. Hecalled for help. Three men on shore swam to his assistance, one getting very close to Gardiner before he disappeared. Diving was car- 1 ried out in an effort to locate the body, but was without success. James Hanna, aged 65, a single man who has been missing from home since December 18, was found drowned, hi& body being discovered floating in th& Auckland harbour on Saturday -after-, noon. '
