MR. DONALD CONTROLS CUSTOMS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Dee. 21. Referring to the readjustment of ministerial portfolios consequent upon the Hon. T. M. Wilford; becoming High Commissioner, Sir Joseph Ward to-day announced further that the Hon. W, B. Taverner had relinquished the portfolio of Customs and the Governor-General had appointed the Hon. J.. B. Donald to this office. Sir Joseph said it is to be understood that the change was solely in the interests of departmental convenience. It would also afford some necessary relief from the heavy burden of work of Mr. Taverner, whose administration of the portfolio of Customs has been of real value to tho country.
