PRIME LAMBS FOR EXPORT

JUDGING AT WAVERLEY. Twenty-one pens of three lambs each were entered for the competition for fat lambs for export-, held under the auspices of the Waverley A. and P. Association at Waverley on Friday. The judge, Mr. Al. Barraclough, Hawera, was impressed with the quality of the entries. and considered their condition particularly good. Entries were made by the following breeders: Messrs. Johnston Bros. (2), D- Walker (2), E. Parsons (2), J. A. Aiken, A. E. Symes (2), G. McGregor, Elmslie Bros. (2), T. L. Paget (2), T. E. Talbot, W. N. Aiken. B. W. Harvey (2), F. McWilliam (2)', and the Waverley Racing Club. The first award went- to Messrs. Elmslie Bros, and the second to Mr. E. Parsons. Considerable difficulty was experienced by Mr. Barraclough in determining the placings, and he selected other pens as being very close to the first placings. These were the entries of Messrs. Johnston Bros, and F. McWilliams’, two pens, these being not as even in weight as the winners and having a tendency to over-weight. The lambs entered are to be exported to London, where they will be judged by experts with the idea of determining the class of lamb most suitable for the export trade from New Zealand.
